A Brief Introduction to ASC

  1. History

The idea of Asian Science Camp was co-proposed in September 2005 after the Lindau Science Meeting by Professor Yuan-Tseh Lee from Chinese Taipei, the 1986 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, and Professor Masatoshi Koshiba from Japan, the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Physics. The proposal aims to enlighten those science - talented youths through discussion and dialogue with top scientists in the world and to promote the international friendship and cooperation among the best young students of the next generation in Asia.

The Asian Science Camp would invite Nobel Laureates and world-distinguished scientists as speakers and devise an interesting program for the participants. The program would include plenary sessions, parallel dialogue sessions between speakers and students, poster presentations, social activities and excursions. The working language will be English.

ASC 2019, which will be held from 28 July to 3 August 2019 in Shantou, Guangdong Province, China, is organized by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) with strong support from the Ministry of Education of China. The event is also co-organized by Shantou University and Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Under the theme Science, Youth and the Future, ASC 2019 aims to help spread the spirit of science to millions of young people in Asia and across the world, to encourage them to participate in science exploration, to improve the lives of peoples and build our shared future together.
